Inspired by some friends who came back from Korea and said that the sights were better than the food. Decided to pick up some Kimchi noodles along the way home. Verdict? It's like watching a Korean show! Haha... sorry doesn't make sense. But just felt like saying it. :) NO offense to K drama fans out there! I like my noodles soggy... anyone else?

Oh, of course this is like the middle of the night, must try ordering a Big Mac one of these nites...

Yummy! But I suppose you can go google for that picture.Actually I did take a picture, but I've got more interesting things to blog about this new year's eve! Got a couple of buddies Ian and Dan... and the word i say when i meet or im them is Podcast! And somehow finally tonight, we got on skpye and I tried to record... tried... here's the result.. i'm sure we'll somehow talk about food so it justifies being on this blog. but even if it doesn't... well does it really matter?? hehe.. Happy Christmas!

Another group food shot from a good friend who taught me to eat first and then ask later. Well, when it comes to Chee Kar? He said don't ask him what it is. I'm sure he had a good lunch anyway. :)

Rochor Beacurd

Rochor Beacurd

yup it's B-E-A-C-U-R-D. Well, that's the spelling of this store for as long as I can remember. But I guess they finally decided to use the spell checker. :) But it doesn't really matter as the stall is selling it's beancurd constantly! They've also got the best egg tarts that I've ever eaten here!

There's this new stall along Geylang Rd. Which makes this a compulsory pit stop! Beancurd lovers already know this place well enough, just letting you know that there's 2 Rochor stalls, one along Geylang Rd and if you drive the other direction, one along Sims also! Just that parking can be a little hard to find.

Was heading for some prata along Jln Kayu. This stretch is getting more and more happenning. Jerry's being the bestest. :) Well, got waylaid by this 3 month old indonesian/javanese restaurant. I must say I wasn't the only one. There were quite a few couples who walked past and some decided to stay and try they food. The food is quite cheap for quite a nicely done up place. Tried the nasi campur and nasi goreng belechan. And I say, go for the belechan! This place has got drinks, freezes and free ice cream for gals on friday! Plus it's got EPL and iPod docking! An apple friendly shop! Who hoo!! Worth a visit. :)

Didn't get to go on the Kitchen Aid thingy at the back of the picture. It would have been fun stirring all my cranium. Hehe.. Check out Pierre's blog for the entire super fun nite! :)

Chef's Burger @ Botanic Gardens

Chef's Burger @ Botanic Gardens

Anything with a fried egg is good. Even if this dish is not good, at least there's the fried egg. This cafe offers quite a few burgers, but I went straight for this one, because of the friend egg. Had the burger patti medium done and it came out brilliant. The buns were generously buttered and grilled. Salads and fries and an order of ice lemon tea completed this lovely burger. If there's anything I can eat everyday, that's a burger. Must try! Oh, this cafe setting is the best you can get in Singapore, with nature all over you. They got Christmas trees up and ponsiettas greeting you on the way in as you pass this really huge big heritage tree. Pity, there wasn't time for a lovely stroll in the gardens after dinner. :)

Carbonara @ Botanic Gardens

Carbonara
Originally uploaded by Makantime.
Picked up Lin from town in the evening and decided to head down to the cafe at Botanic Gardens. And when I got there, I saw the name of my favourite Peperoni Pizzeria! Whoo hoo! So it's the same Les Amis group of restaurants. And I'm once again pleasantly impressed. Firstly, I hardly ever order this dish, not that much of a cream kinda person. But I somehow wanted to order that as I've been craving for pasta. And usually, this dish comes with an overwhelming feeling of too much sauce, then one would just feel 'je lat' after like eating half the plate.

But this one was quite special. It came out looking pan fried but yet having the cream sauce sticking onto the pasta. Lovely. The bacon was nicely cut and savoury making this Carbonara really good!

Lau Hong Ser Rojak

Lau Hong Ser Rojak
Originally uploaded by Makantime.
The owner of this stall is kan cheong spider personified. (His wife is the total opposite, and she's the one facing the fire bbqing the fritters etc) This rojak, is my favourite.(The old aiport toa payoh one comes close) You must have it with a lot of patience coz I waited 35 minutes for my order. Somtimes I like to have just the you tiao alone. Other times, I enjoy the cuttlefish and the tao pok thingy... or is it tau gua pau? The ingredients are fresh and the paste is nice and thick. It left me and my sunday school boys licking up all the paste off this $3 plate. The longest wait you can have at Dunman food centre. When we were leaving this evening, the wait went up to 60 minutes! But it's worth it! Try try! Makansutra hawker legend.

Eng's Wan Tan Mee & Hot Chilli!

Eng's Wan Tan Mee & Hot Chilli!
Originally uploaded by Makantime.
This is probably the hottest wan tan mee in Singapore. This little food centre at Dunman Rd has 2 Wan Tan Mee Stalls, and this famous stall has been around longer than I can remember. Actually this wan tan mee... actually is quite good. The wan tan and the char siew are quite ordinary, but it's the noodles and chilli that is really super yummy. I really don't know how to describe the feeling of eating this other than all the time, you can feel it coming out of you the next morning. Hot hot, must try!!!
