Garfield Ice Cream

Garfield Ice Cream
Originally uploaded by Makantime.
The weather is o so hot! It's like a sauna out there. Man, I was craving so badly for an ice cream. Went to great world city in the afternoon and there's this one selling an ice cream with the flavour of your choice for only $1. I had coffee yum. =) Oh, you can also pick up some nice flowers from Veronica's Florist that is next to it. To all the mothers, be good to your daughters and blessed mother's day. :)

Stay cool...

Longan Grass Jelly

Longan Grass Jelly
Originally uploaded by Roy Chang.
Well, it's another hot day, so here's another cool desert. Got this from Serangoon Garden's Market Hawker Centre. Ice, Longan and Grass Jelly. The longans are my favourite, sweet but not too sweet, but o so juicy. Grass jelly good to keep the heat down. Actually I was hoping to have an exciting post of Geylang Lor 13 Wan Tan Mee. A few colleagues (Randy, David and Cephas), walked all 14 Lorongs from our office (and back!)But my makantime pics got corrupted. Looks like we'll have to walk there again guys just for the shot. Hehe. :P

Teh O Peng!

Teh O Peng!
Originally uploaded by Roy Chang.
The weather's been really hot. And this refreshing drink of Teh O Peng will be gladly welcomed. The best part is that this is only about 70cents. This uncle who takes my orders from the coffeshop near my churh belts out my order like a season RSM or National Day Parade commander. So be careful! (Bring earplugs). But at least you know he got your order right.

The only thing I don't know is why O=Without Milk. Anyone?

Stay cool, cheers.

Got to Love Garfield

Well, I actually ate some fruits and jogged 2.4km today. Wonder if I can keep it up. In the meantime... feed me!

I have no idea why I am learning basic html at this time of the day. Oh well, been wanting to clean up the side bar and found some useful websites that helps me write html. Why can't everything by WYSIWYG?

Anyways, I'm happy to include a new section in the sidebar called Makan Buddies (a.k.a. Links). I've added them, coz they added me to their blogs loh. So if you want to be added to the link, very easy. Just buy me makan loh? Hehe. :P If not, send me pictures of what you eat and like to recommend also can. :)

Here's to makan buddies!

This has got to me one of my fav packed lunches. Roast Duck with Char Siew! This is found in Parawan in Geylang Lor 25, not the nite club, but the coffeshop next to it.This duck is really fat, oily, juicy, tender... it's as duck as a duck can get. The Char Siew has a nice sweet bbq flavour and complements the duck really well. The chilli sauced pictured just completes this lovely set lunch. I would normally have this meal with my favourite teh peng from this same coffee shop. Will feature it next time! Happy lunching!(Nice Nice Nice Nice Ni!)

Cheese Stick!

Cheese Stick!
Originally uploaded by Makantime.
This was something intersting during tea break. The nicely packaged cheese cake from cheesecake studios at Bugis I've been told. The one that I had was a little unrefrigerated when I had it. But still, a free cheese stick is better than no stick at all. Nice packaging lah. :)

Curry Bun

Curry Bun
Originally uploaded by Roy Chang.
This is from the same hawker centre as the Tau Hu Goreng in Serangoon Gardens Market. There are 2 bakeries/confectionaries there, and this bun comes from the one with the longer Q. Curry and bread, what a lovely combination. For 50 cents, this is a nice quick snack, breakfast, tea, supper.. anytime really when you just want to much something and fill you too at the same time. What don't think that can fill you? Try a really hot one, then you'll end up having to drink lots of water and then you'll have your fill hehe. :P Hm, still haven't found a way to rate the food yet. Hm, number of nice words? So I give this bun 3 and a 1/2 nices. (nice nice nice ni)

I was also eating this, not the tissue!, under those interesting red leaves. For foreigners, we locals also have our bread/toast. This one is nicely toasted, nor charcoal though, with a thick cut of butter and generous spread of kaya (coconut jam). I always, well most of the time, have it with 2 soft boiled egges, hm, I forgot to photograph them eggs. Well, I'm sure you know they look like. Do you?

Fatty Wan Ton Mee

Fatty Wan Tan Mee
Originally uploaded by Roy Chang.
Nope I didn't get the name wrong. If Katong if famous for her laksa, then her neighbour Joo Chiat has to be famous for her Wan Ton Mee. Well, here's one from the coffee shop near my church and dunman food centre. This plate of shui jiao (prawn dumpling) noodle is only $2. Yum yum. I always go for the chilli one although the auntie will always say, 'Ni She Hei Chiang' which directly translated means 'You Are Black Sauce'. :P

Well, here was an interesting sight while I was chowing down this plate of noodles last Sunday. The Autumn Leaves?
Autumn Leafs? Autumn in Singapore?

Happy Birthday Judes & Judettes!

Durian Birthday Cake
Originally uploaded by Makantime.
4 members of BS group namely, Che Yeong, Jeremy, Charmaine and Charlene were celebrating their birthdays and there was So Much Food! There was really so much to eat that my camera's battery couldn't even keep up! But I still manage to get a few shots to share. Hehe. =)

Let's start with the birthday cake. Actually it's not a cake, it's a durian in cake form and it's so good. (I realise that my vocab to describe food is not so good, better look at http://thesaurus.reference.com/search?q=nice)

Well, first thing we did was to give thanks for the food.
Giving Thanks
And then the next thing we did was eat!
Canadian Pizzas Jude Birthday Celebration!
There's so much food, it's hard deciding what to eat next!
Well, it was definitely a great time. Oh, and we've were all shocked to see 6 tubs of HagenDaz ice cream when we've yet to finish the durians. Wow... I'm still burping Durian the next day. haha. k, I know that's gross. Happy birthday!!

Jude's Supper

This is my Bible Study group Jude taking supper after our Daily Bread and dinner. Last evening this delicious durian roll from Angie's Choice was served. It's got an egg wrapping and the durian is really yummy.

Durian Roll

This was then followed by some brownies bought from Olio dome's warehouse. I'm normally not a brownies fan as I find it a little dry, so a scoop of vanilla ice is best with them. But this was rather moist and I actually took 2 pieces!

Brownies

All this was downed, not quite the right word to use for tea, but this home made em Lady Earl? Someone please help me out here, is really good. Fragrant and wonderful just before bedtime. (Yea, I'm used to taking tea before bed.)

Tea!

Care to join Jude for BS? :P (Shameless plug)

My PB is Back!

My PB is Back!
Originally uploaded by Roy Chang.
Haha, got my PB back last evening. Took me a while to get through to
them and find out if my machine was ready. I was so happy when I found
out that it was. But when I got there, they told me that nothing was
wrong and I had to pay $105 for diagnostics. I was like what? My shock
was then turned to relieved when they realised that they got my case id
wrong and told me about someone else's machine. Poor guy. Well, I got
my PB back and ready to blog more food! So tummies ready!

'Tau Hu' Goreng

Tahu Goreng
Originally uploaded by Roy Chang.
Makan means eat in malay. So one thing that I recently makanded is this Tahu Goreng from Serangoon Gardens Market. The best part about it is that it's only $2. I mean what can you get for $2 nowadays? Actually a lot of things. But if you had your last $2 to buy food (Hm, sounds like Miss Singapore pageant question :P) I would buy this Tahu Goreng again. This shop sells nice Roti John, but I decided to try the 'tao' 'hu' and it's really good. The best part is that it's so filling, that I couldn't even finish it. The peanut sauce is simply 'heavenly'!
